Dr. Kathryn (Katie) Winkler received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, MI, where she was nominated by her peers as the most compassionate resident.
She then went on to complete a two-year Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute. She is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and board certified in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Winkler is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University College of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology, where she teaches medical students and residents.
Her practice provides comprehensive ophthalmic and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery options. She has published a number of scientific articles, advancing the oculoplastic academic community as well as presented at many national meetings.
In her spare time she enjoys running, traveling, going to the theater, and spending time with her husband and children. Dr. Kathryn Winkler has a passion for international medicine and has traveled to Les Cayes, Haiti and Migori, Kenya to provide ophthalmic and oculoplastic care and surgery to the communities.
